Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining VLT’s HGV’s and enhancing the performance of our modern vehicle fleet. This is brand new role where you will solely be responsible for the running and upkeep of our new workshop. As an integral part of our operation, you will also be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.

With over 25 years experience in logistics and distribution we are a family owned company that handles all logistical requirements including ADR consignments, Moffett and Air Freight deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • You will maintain our mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles and trailers to the highest standard and in line with DVSA requirements
  • Vehicle and Trailer inspections
  • MOT preparation to DVSA standards
  • Brake testing at every inspection
  • Fault finding and repairs
  • Use of diagnostic equipment

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

  • Qualification in City and Guilds HGV Part 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ level 3 equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as an HGV Mechanic (post qualification) preferably within a fleet environment
  • Large Goods Vehicle experience is essential
  • Must have the “can do” attitude
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Excellent time-keeping skills

Desirable:

  • HGV Licence – Class 1
  • IRTEC Registered for both traction and trailers
  • Live within a 20 to 30 mile radius of LS19
