Job Description and Purpose:
To plan and coordinate transport operations efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries and collections, with optimal resource utilisation, and compliance with legal and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage daily transport plans, including routing and scheduling, effectively and efficiently.
- Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor vehicle movements using TMS and GPS systems.
- Resolve transport-related issues such as delays or route changes.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities and performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Key Tasks:
- Create and issue driver manifests and delivery schedules.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers based on load requirements and availability.
- Input and update transport data in TMS, including ensuring that ALL assets are available to be maintained, serviced in line with the Maintenance and repair schedule.
- Track and report on delivery progress and exceptions.
- Liaise with hauliers and third-party logistics providers when required.
- Analyse transport data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist in planning for seasonal peaks and special projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of road networks, traffic conditions, and legal restrictions.
- Support the implementation of new transport technologies and systems.
- Brief drivers next day’s work and ensure all work sent to there tablets.
