Bradford-based storage and distribution company, Vernon Land Transport, has just purchased a fourth DAF XF105 Super Space cab tractor unit. Supplied through local DAF dealer F & G Commercial. The 6×2 plated, 44 tonnes, 460hp newcomer will be employed on general haulage. Equipped with an AS-Tronic automated box. It joins the three other recently-acquired XF105 Super Space cabs built to similar specifications and is set to cover 120,000km to 130,000km annually.
“High-quality dealer support, competitive pricing and an attractive deal from PACCAR Financial were among the reasons behind the choice” explains managing director, Vernon Land.
“As a consequence we’ve got another Super Space cab on the way.”
Maintained by F & G, which operates sites at Huddersfield, Barnsley and Oldham, the DAFs haul a mixture of box, flat and curtainsider trailers.
Vernon Land Transport equip their trucks with fridge freezers, luxury seats, multi-function steering wheels, air horns, extra lighting both inside and outside and extended catwalks.
“Our drivers work hard, have to spend nights away from home and deserve some comfort,” he continues. “As a consequence of our approach, we attract drivers who take great pride in their vehicles and really look after them.
“There is also the point that a high standard of equipment helps to keep the residual values of our trucks buoyant.”
VLT boasts an impressive fleet of trucks and vans in service on UK and European work and also operates 95,000 square feet of warehouse space in Baildon. Not afraid to invest, the firm has also recently installed a state-of-the-art warehouse management system.
“I started the business many years ago with just one truck that I drove myself,” says Mr Land. “I’m proud of what we‘ve achieved and our continued growth.”
