Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining our HGV’s and enhancing the performance of our modern vehicle fleet. This is brand new role where you will solely be responsible for the running and upkeep of our new workshop. As an integral part of our operation, you also be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicles to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- You will maintain our mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles and trailers to the highest standard and in line with DVSA requirements
- Vehicle and Trailer inspections
- MOT preparation to DVSA standards
- Brake testing at every inspection
- Fault finding and repairs
- Use of diagnostic equipment
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Qualification in City and Guilds HGV Part 1, 2 & 3 or NVQ level 3 equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years experience as an HGV Mechanic (post qualification) preferably within a fleet environment
- Large Goods Vehicle experience is essential
- Must have the “can do” attitude
- Flexible approach to work
- Health & Safety awareness
- Excellent time-keeping skills
Desirable:
- HGV Licence – Class 1
- IRTEC Registered for both traction and trailers
